Monrovia-The Ministry of Internal Affairs has cautioned local government officials and traditional leaders to desist from opposing government functions in rural Liberia.
Speaking with Freedom News Wednesday, August 18, in Monrovia the Technical Focal Personal in the office of the Minister of Internal Affairs D. Emmanuel Wheinyue said, the Ministry continued to receive reports of interference from traditional leaders obstructing government functions in Rural Liberia, something it takes serious exception to.
Wheinyue added that crimes of rape and murder should not be taken lightly by traditional leaders, stating that such will be at the detriment of the citizens.
The MIA Technical Focal Personal further added that any local or traditional leader who will be caught in preventing justice will be dismissed and face the full weight of the law.
Wheinyue at the same time said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is also strongly against attempts by the local and traditional leaders to interfere in issues that should be addressed legally.
