Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah says additional ninety-six thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccines are expected to arrive in the Country on Friday, August 20.
Speaking Thursday at the Ministry of Information Culture Affairs & Tourism regular Press briefing in Monrovia, Dr. Jallah lauded the efforts of partners, and their continuous support to Liberia in the fight against the Coronavirus.
Dr. Jallah furthered that the additional AstraZeneca vaccines are expected to arrive in the Country this Friday via the Roberts International Airport.
The Health Minister also noted that Liberia continues to make progress in the fight against Covid-19, but cautioned citizens against being complacent.
She called on citizens to continue adhering to all health protocols, adding that currently, only six counties are responding with Montserrado County remaining the hub zone of the third wave.
‘’We must not stop washing hands our warring of a nose mask and all of the health protocol even thus we are making progress in our fight against the third wave ’’ Minister Jallah urge citizens.
In another development, Dr. Jallah has disclosed that there is no case of the Marburg virus in Liberia.
She also added that the Ministry is keeping surveillance on the reemergence of the Ebola virus in Cote D’Ivoire, and has put in place a mechanism for testing.
‘’As we speak there is no one case of the Marburg or Ebola in our yet, but our surveillance team is working in testing people that coming into the country’’
