Criminal Court ‘B’ Resident Judge KoboiNuta has ordered Magistrate John Griggs of the Careysbury Magisterial Court to release a Nigerian drug suspect Godwin Brown without litigation.
This follows an application from Atty. Bob Laywhyee, Legal Counselor of the House of Representatives claiming that Nigerian Drug Suspect was wrongfully detained by Magistrate Griggs.
Suspect Godwin Brown was arrested on August 18, by officers of Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) with cocaine value at Fifteen Thousand & Six Hundred United States Dollars.
He was charged for illegal possession of cocaine and later remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison after his lawyer failed to file a valid criminal appearance bond from him.
But Judge Nuta Friday mandated Magistrate John Griggs to restore the Nigerian Drug Suspect with immediate effect ahead of his August 23, hearing surrounding Atty. Bob Laywhyee’s action for Summary Proceeding against the Magistrate Griggs.
Interestingly, the Nigerian drug suspects hairedAtty. BobLaywhyee, Legal Counselor of the House of Representative where a proposed bill was submitted to amend the drug law.
Atty. Laywhyee is pursuing this matter against the Government of Liberia at Criminal Court ‘B’ at the Temple of Justice.
