Acting Public Works Minister Ruth Cooker-Collins has announced the completion of one of the four markets that are under construction at the fourteenth Gobacheve market in Paynesville.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information Regular Press Briefing Thursday, the Acting Minister repudiated allegations that claimed they were distributing spots to foreign nationals instead of Liberians, adding that they are opened to work with Liberians.
She added that spots will be given based on the commodity and groupings not individually, noting that groupings have been listed by the Liberian Marketing Association, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Ministry of public works and the President’s Special Committee working with the team to allocate spots to marketers.
She further disclosed that seventy percent of the Toilet Installation and maintenance of the corridor routes are completed, promised that contractors are expected to build bridges and covert lines on the corridor routes as they have discovered a more alternative route to address traffic issues.
The Acting Minister at the same time expressed excitement in the level of cooperation Citizens along the RIA Highway have shown to the Ministry of Public Works, stating that the people of Liberia are ready for development, as citizens themselves are demolishing their homes for the construction of the Roberts International Airport Highway Road which will begin this dry season.
She also called on residents of Congo Town to cooperate with the Ministry, ahead of the demolition exercise to pave the way for the construction of the overhead bridges.
