Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has expressed concern over the alarming rate of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the Country.
Speaking Tuesday at the opening of a two-day National Colloquium on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence organized by Spotlight Initiative, VP Taylor said the issue of sexual and gender-based violence against women and girls in the country is appalling and heartbreaking to all mothers.
According to her, she is yet to understand why women are at the center of violence with men in the country, adding that women and girls have been murdered by men across the country for no reason.
She added that young girls and boys have been raped and sodomize by men in every sector of society, noting that much more needs to be done in creating awareness on the issue of sexual and gender-based violence in the Country.
Meanwhile, VP Taylor is calling on the Judiciary and the Ministry of Justice to take actions aimed to discourage and compromising sexual and gender-based cases in the Country.
