The People’s Liberation Party has with immediate effect suspended the Acting Secretary-General of the Party, David Beyan.
The PLP in a statement released Wednesday said the decision to suspend Beyan was a result of raising false alarms and reporting misleading information to the Party.
The statement added that initially the Party was informed by Beyan that he was shot by armed robbers in an unknown location in the vicinity of Kakata and was subsequently taken to the JFK Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
But, it was unfortunate that a Police investigation uncovered that David Beyan had previously told one of the nurses at the JFK that he accidentally shot himself in the left leg, contrary to reports that he was shot by Armed Robbers.
The statement furthered that the firearm used in the incident was found within the proximity of 20th St. Sinkor and is currently in possession of the LNP, as Beyan is being charged with illegal possession of a firearm and providing false information to law enforcement officers.
The People’s Liberation Party stated that considering the severity of the findings by the Liberia National Police; and as a party that conforms with the laws and constitutions of Liberia, the Party condemns the action of its Acting Secretary-General, noting that further actions shall be determined by the Executive Members of the PLP upon the conclusion of the LNP’s investigation.
