Well Packaged and shipped through the Free Port of Monrovia, the 5,200 bucket seats with red and blue colors respectively arrived in Liberia on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
The Sports consignment came following an appeal from the President of the Liberia Football Association ( LFA) Mustapha Raji to his counterpart, the Romanian Football Federation.
The Romanian Football Federation’s assistance to the Liberia Football Association is part of an ongoing initiative by the Local Football House to improve sports infrastructure development in the Country.
Mr. Raji who thanked his counterparts for the meaningful gesture also disclosed that the 5200 bucket seats will subsequently be installed at four stadiums in the country, namely: TUSA Field In Garnesville, The SKD Practice Field in Paynesville, the Dorris Williams Stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County including the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Central Monrovia.
The LFA boss used the occasion to appreciate the government of Liberia through former World Footballer of the Year now President of Liberia, George Manneh Weah for ensuring that LFA gets duty-free on all materials brought in the Country, “we are so grateful, Mr. President and Chief Patron of Sports”, he emphasized.
Although the senior National Team is not living up to expectations in spite of support to them especially having played four world Qualifiers and won only one with just three points and is at the bottom of her group, Raji is not distracted by the decimal performances of a team, he as President of the LFA is managing with support from the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports but remains to focus on his dream to develop the game through infrastructure, youth, women and school support programs amongst others.
With the presence of the 5200 bucket seats and upon subsequent installation especially at the newly constructed three mini stadiums in Liberia to include; The Tusa Field in Garnesville, the Samuel Kanyan Doe Practice Pitch in Paynesville, and the Doris Williams Sports pitch in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, it is expected to add new beauty and flavor as well as additional face-lift to the three facilities which were recently constructed by Greenfield under the leadership of President Mustapha Raji.
Meanwhile works on the FIFA’s LFA headquarters project are said to be ongoing and at an appreciable level all as part of continuous efforts to improve sports infrastructures at all levels.
Currently and in a drive to also buttress the LFA’s effort and through the instrumentality of the Chief Patron of Sports, President George Weah, ongoing Works at the Invincible Park in Fish Market are said to be nearing completion while preliminary works for the construction of the PHP unity park has since commenced.
Both projects upon full completion will be a big and added boost to Liberia’s sporting infrastructure as plans are underway to do more across the Country.
