Nimba County Senator Jeremiah Koung has termed the ArcelorMittal 800-million United States dollars Mineral Development Agreement as a bad deal for the Country.
According to Senator Koung, despite its operations in the Country, ArcelorMittal Liberia does not have any major investment in the Country terming the situation as sad for the Country including his County, (Nimba).
He called on the Liberian Senate not to rush in the extension of the Company’s operations in the Country but ensure that the interest of the Country and its people is highly considered by their representatives at the Legislature.
The Nimba County Senator stressed the need for the Legislature to ensure that the Company built infrastructures that will monitor the running and operation of the ArcelorMittal Liberia as a way of helping to avoid the Country being at the losing end.
Senator Koung was speaking Monday during the opening of a public hearing on the ratification and extension of the Mineral Development Agreement between the Government of Liberia and ArcelorMittal Liberia.
