
Education Minister Professor Ansu Sonii has stressed the importance of investing in the youthful population of Liberia, noting that a society that prioritizes education is certain to achieve growth and development.
Speaking Wednesday during the launch of the Improving Research in Secondary Education renovation & rehabilitation citizens’ engagement project in Ganta, Nimba County, Minister Sonii challenged Parents to invest in the education of their Children.
The Education Minister also urged Teachers to exert more efforts in educating Liberian Children, and encouraged them to be more responsible in the discharge of their duties.
Minister Sonii at the same time used the occasion to admonished school administrators to manage funds intended for the renovation and construction of school facilities, and also rallied citizens, community leaders and students to monitor and take ownership of the projects.
In a related development, Abraham Kiazolu, Lead of the IRISE Project has disclosed that over 3,000 school going girls from 10 to 12 grades will be awarded scholarships to encourage them remain in school.
Kiazolu also added that the project will also incorporate female Councilors to mentor school going girls, while thirty young graduates with a Bachelor’s degree will be sponsored to study abroad, and will return to train Teachers in Secondary schools.
