
Margibi County’s only referral hospital, CH Rennie Hospital, was gutted by fire early Sunday morning, leaving the emergency response room, pharmacy, record room, and administrative offices destroyed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established, but citizens responded quickly to curb the fire disaster.
No human casualty was reported so far, as patients were transferred to the Barkolleh Health Center and C. B. Dunbar Hospital in Bong County.
During the incident, citizens stone a Firestone Rubber Company fire truck, rejecting what they called the late response to the incident.
At the scene of the incident, Margibi County Superintendent Jerry Varney said the incident has created a setback for the health delivery system of Margibi.
Superintendent Varney said it was unfortunate that the County’s only referral hospital will get destroy due to the failure of the Fire Service to respond on time.
For his Part, Kakata City Mayor, Emmanuel Goll described the fire incident as frustrating and stressed the need for quick intervention to rebuild the facility.
