
Police in Margibi has finally charged and sent to court Apostle Franklin Snorton for allegedly raping a 21-year-old pregnant woman in Kakata.
His writ of arrest was served at the Kakata Police detachment, after which he was subsequently taken to the Kakata Central prison due to mounting tension surrounding the case.
Pastor Snorton was charged for allegedly committing the crime, after spending five nights behind bars, at the women and children protection section of the Liberia National Police in Margibi County.
Snorton who is the senior pastor of the Philadelphia church in Kakata is currently at the Kakata central prison commonly known as ‘Carter High’ serving his pre-trial detention after he was accused on August 20.
According to police charged that is the possession of Freedom FM, defendant Snorton attempted solving the crime in avoiding disgrace and embarrassment.
The charged sheet further noted that the defendant made several attempts by providing 400.00LD to the survivor, and also made several telephone calls to her pleading.
Moreover, the charge sheet noted that Snortoon at the same time made personal representation to the survivor grandmother’s home insisting to talk with her.
The police charged sheet further said that due to the force and threat towards the survivor during the alleged commission of the crime, she became scared and her condition couldn’t permit her to fight back seriously and decided to remain quiet.
Defendant Snorton who is believed to be 54 years was charged in line with chapter 14 subchapter D section 14.70 of the new penal law of Liberia and sent to court for trial.
