
President George Weah, Friday dedicated a newly constructed United Da’wah Ummah Of Liberia Mosque And School in Redlight, Bassa Town.
The dedication of the school and mosque is in memory of the 28 quranic students who died in a fire outbreak that occurred on September 17, 2019.
The construction of the new facility was funded by the Qatar Charity Foundation, valued at $120,000 United States dollars.
Speaking at the dedication program, President George Weah said despite the future of the young Islamic scholars were denied due to their untimely and unfortunate deaths, but it is not in vain as a result of the new structure from which their colleagues will benefit.
The Liberian Leader at the same time acknowledged the kindness, generosity, and charitable work of the Qatar charity which funded the project, noting that his government is grateful for such a meaningful gesture.
Meanwhile, President Weah re-echoed his condolences to the bereaved family and the Muslim community on behalf of the government of Liberia.
Also speaking, the Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of the State of Qatar near Monrovia, Abdel Aziz R.M. Al Shehab noted that the gesture demonstrates the symbol of friendship and deep solidarity to the nation and people of Liberia.
Mr. Al Shehab also used the occasion to extend the deepest sympathy for the deaths of the twenty-eight quranic students.
Meanwhile, the new building will now host two hundred and fifty students, more than the previous number of students.
