
Monrovia- Three Senior Public Officials from the Executive Branch, on Monday, appeared at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia following a citation for a conference, from the Justice Presiding in Chamber of the Supreme Court in connection with Circuit and Specialize Courts Judges’ lawsuit against the Government of Liberia over the slashing of their salaries through the harmonization exercise in 2019.
Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and Nathaniel McGill were spotted late Monday afternoon moving the office of Cllr. Joseph N. Nagbe, after Justice Minister Frank Musa Dean, had earlier appeared based on concern over the huge slashing of judges’ salaries and other benefits.
This follows Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe’s September 3, 2021, summoned against Justice Minister Frank Musah Dean, Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, and Minister State Nathaniel McGill.
The writ served to the three, but Minster Tweah was caught hiding from the writ.
Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe Monday, according to Freedom Judicial Correspondent met the three public officials beyond close door surrounding the Judges’ lawsuit at the Civil Law Court against the Weah’s administration over the cutting of their salaries from 5,000 to 2,500-United States Dollars.
Our source close to the Judiciary also said the Justices observed a reduction in their gas slip from 300 gallons to 150 gallons.
Our Correspondent further said though detail surrounding Justice Nagbe’s Monday gathering remains unclear the report says is seeking to avoid the Judges pending class action the Civil Law Court against Weah’s administration.
On September 1, 2021, Circuit Court Judges filed a class action at Civil Law Court against Weah’s administration over the reduction of their salaries through the harmonization exerciser in 2019.
The Judges’ legal action was contained in a fourteen counts petition filed by their lawyers Cllrs. Wilkins Wright and Johnny Momoh for a Declaratory Judgement consistent with Chapter 43, Section 43.1 of the Civil Procedure Law of Liberia.
The salaries of judges according to our reporter is by law and cannot be undone, until a constitutional amendment is made.
