
The Confederation of African Football, CAF has canceled the planned facility reinspection visit to Liberia ahead of next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde Island.
The decision to cancel the inspection is as a result of a request made by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) following the Ministry of Youth and Sports September 11, 2021 communication to LFA that the field is not in a better condition to host international games next month.
Similar thing in which particularly was the subject of rejection during CAF’s previous “Inspection Visits” as such, the inspection team should not come at the moment.
A communication from LFA reads: ” In an effort to avoid further sanction, we have just been informed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports that our playing pitch won’t be ready for international game next month as such, we are requesting you (CAF) to please cancel the upcoming inspection until we can get back to you”.
The CAF inspecting team was scheduled to arrive in Monrovia on a two-day visit to reinspect the country’s premium football facility, Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex between September 12-13 before departing for another country ahead of the match-day three actions in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
A new inspection date will be announced after CAF gets another communication from the Liberian football governing body that the pitch is fully ready for another inspection.
Meanwhile, In the communication sent to CAF, the Liberia Football Association asked the continent football governing body to consider Ghana as its home venue for Liberia’s Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifier with Cape Verde until which time the SKD pitch will be readied for the remainder of the two home matches against Nigeria and Central African Republic (CAR).
The LFA is said to be in serious discussion with the Ghana Football Association for Lonestar to player her home game with Cape Verde on October 5 in Ghana due to a ban placed on their field.
At the same time, the ministry of Youth and Sports has informed LFA and the general public that the SKD pitch will be readied for CAF’s “Re-inspection Visit” in November for Match Day 5 & 6 against Nigeria and the Central African Republic respectively.
