The University of Liberia, its President Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson says, negotiation is ongoing with aggrieved faculty Staff to calm down the situation.
Speaking Monday, when appeal on Okay FM Dr. Nelson lauded the aggrieved Staff for the steps taken but said the situation is an age-old problem at the University.
The University of Liberia President’s comments come an hour after the faculties signed a resolution of disengaging academics at the University of Liberia.
According to him, the aggrieved faculty staff is cooperating with the ongoing negotiation adding that all hands are desk to solving those problems in a sooner possible time.
Dr. Nelson further noted that the government through the Ministry of Finance is expected to give two months’ salary to those affected faculties in the ongoing negotiation.
He said the issue of salary disparities started at the time when he was not president at the university but apologized for whatever situation adding that he working to correct them.
The University of Liberia at the same time said that the administration is not against salary increment at the university, but urged them to join in negotiation with the government for it to be done properly.
Meanwhile commenting further, Dr. Nelson said the insurance process was discussed with the perverse administration which ended in June of this year but he negotiated with the insurance companies for an extended time.
