The National Port Authority has announced a plan reduction of tariff on all imported commodities in Liberia.
This pronouncement was made by NPA Managing Director Bill Twehway, following President George Weah’s courtesy visit on Tuesday at the Freeport of Monrovia.
Addressing a team of journalists Tuesday, Twehway disclosed that President Weah mandated the NPA to collaborate with relevant authorities to reduce the tariff on imported goods at the Freeport of Monrovia.
He said President Weah believes that this will help ordinary Liberians to access affordable goods on the Liberian market.
The NPA Managing Director further disclosed that upon receiving such mandate, he placed a call to the Minister of commerce announcing an urgent meeting expected to be held on Wednesday of this week.
He added that President Weah also mandated him to reconstruct the Freeport of Monrovia, making it have a decent look, compare to other ports around the world.
