
President George Weah has called for concerted and accelerated global actions aimed at minimizing warming from climate change.
Addressing World Leaders Monday during the first part of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference High-Level Segment, the Liberian Leader informed the world of Liberia’s national policy framework and other mechanisms to promote a beneficial climate for all.
President Weah also reminded the international community about their commitments and the need to accelerate actions towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The Liberian Leader who is a staunch campaigner for a conducive climate for all made sure Liberia was one of the first countries in the world to host a national climate change and environment conference since the re-entry of the United States of America into the Paris Agreement.
President Weah further encouraged his counterparts to know that addressing the issues of climate is as important, if not more than combating the existing global pandemic, COVID-19.
On the margins of COP26, the President is expected to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with other world leaders.
