
Foreign Minister Maxwell Kemeyah has called on the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Governments to find amicable solutions to the ongoing crisis in Guinea and Mali speedily.
Minister Kemayah speaking on behalf of President George Weah Sunday at an extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government on the Political situations in Guinea and Mali, said stability can only be maintained in the region if the political situation in the two countries is resolved.
He added that Liberia takes due note and thank the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Nana Akuffo Addo, and Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara for their high-level mission to Guinea in September to begin talks on a peaceful transition.
Foreign Minister Kemeyah also used the occasion to extend condolences to the Presidents and Governments and peoples of Niger, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, for tragic incidents resulting in the deaths of their citizens.
Minister Kemayah further indicated that Liberia would like to restate the position of the ECOWAS Authority for the urgent release of President Alpha Condé and the restoration of constitutional and democratic orders in Guinea.
The Liberian Foreign Minister was accompanied to the Summit by Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, Liberia’s Ambassador to Nigeria and Liberia Representative to ECOWAS; Alieu Massaquoi; Charge D’Affaires, Embassy of Liberia in Ghana; Anthony Kpalleh, among others.
