The House of Representatives has rejected a communication sent by the Senate seeking the indulgence of the House Plenary for timely concurrence of a Bill #5 title, an act to ratify the Mineral Development Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Liberia and BAO CHICO RESOURCES.
According to the House Plenary, the decision taken by the House of Senate for the passage of the Bill without the concurrence of the House of Representatives is an insult to the function of the house.
However, following the reading of the communication during Tuesday’s sitting by Chief Clerk Mildred Sayon, several lawmakers provided separate views on the matter.
Meanwhile, Lofa County District #4 Representative Mariamu Fofana and Montserrado County District #7 Representative Solomon George used the medium to urge the august body not to accept any communication from any institution or body without proper revision conducted by committee members.
They further noted that if the communication from the Senate should be accepted and endorsed, the House of Senate will have the full power to pass a bill of impeachment against any lawmaker without the concurrence of the Lower House.
