Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe has alarmed over what he termed as unscrupulous mining activities in Mano Camp, Bomi County.
In a communication to Plenary Tuesday, Senator Snowe accused illicit miners of digging under homes of citizens in the County.
He further noted that the ongoing illicit mining activities are being carryout by Companies without legal licenses to operate in the County and Liberia at large.
Senator Snowe disclosed that the illegal miners often give the affected victims US 100 Dollars as a relocation package to remove them from their homes.
Following the disclosure from the Bomi County lawmaker, our Legislative Reporter said, Plenary voted to instruct the Committees on Mines, Energy, Nature Resources, and Environment to investigate the concern and report to Plenary in two weeks.
The Committee was also mandated to visit Bomi and Gbarpolu Counties, which are being affected by reports of illicit mining activities.
