
Acting Public Works Minister Ruth Collins has clarified that the US 20 Million road construction contract that was recently signed between the Liberia Government and the Japanese Government is intended for the extension of the Japan Freeway to the New Bridge
Speaking Thursday in Monrovia, at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism regular press briefing, Minister Collins said the 20 Million road construction, will begin from the Free Port of Monrovia to the Gabriel Tucker Bridge.
She added that the road leading from the free port to the St Paul Bridge will be funded by the Liberian Government, through the National Road Fund.
According to Minister Collins, companies seeking the contract have already begun a summiting bid to Ministry.
At the same time, National Road Fund Chief Executive Director Boniface Satu said his institution has the full responsibility to generate funding for Road rehabilitation and construction in the country.
According to Satu, the National Road Fund is working in consultation with the Ministry of Public Works, Ministries of Finance, Transport, and Internal Affairs as it implements policy on the construction of Roads across the Country.
Satu said despite Road being a priority of the Weah’’s led-government, tax-payer are also committed to the process.
