Hundreds of residents in District # 14 Montserrado County have begun receiving free medical services from a group under the banner Weahcian for Life.
Speaking during the launch of the community health outreach initiative, the Chairman of the group Doctor Peter Coleman said the outreach will target at least three communities to include Gibraltar, Clara Town, and Doe Community before moving to other parts of Montserrado, with onsite physical examination & medical consultations, medical treatment, and referrals of special cases where necessary.
Dr. Coleman said essential drugs for the treatment of diarrhea, typhoid, infection, and other common sicknesses and diseases, as well as, cervical cancer, and other routine vaccines, are also being provided.
According to him, the medical outreach is intended to help the government because at the moment clinics lack medicine and they have projected to treat at least 500 to 600 persons before going to Doe Community next week. He further disclosed the group will increase its community engagement activities going forward through partnerships with local community leaders.
