President George Weah has finally dedicated the multi-million dollar Duala market after the dedication was postponed following a recent stampede in the Borough of New Kru Town.
Speaking during the dedication ceremony Thursday, President Weah promised to build more modern markets across the country, as a means of keeping street sellers away from the streets.
President Weah further said that the issue of street sellers selling along that major Highway over the years caused serious traffic congestion over the years, as such the building of the Market was significant to address the problem.

The Liberian Leader also disclosed that the Duala market is a joint project of both the People’s Republic of Japan and the Liberian Government, adding that he is grateful for the help of the Japanese government for responding to his call to address the challenges Marketers in the Duala Market faced over the years.
He also admonished the marketers to keep the market facility clean and hygienic, as they are the direct beneficiaries and must do all they can to love and protect the facility, while he at the same time cautioned them to abide by the rule of law for the streets to be free of traffic and waste.

Also speaking, the Superintendent of the Duala market Madam Sheriff thanked President Weah for fulfilling his promise to marketers of the Duala market.
She also assured the President of the unflinching support of Marketers and urged him to continue his good work for the citizenry and the Country as a whole.
