
Prosecuting lawyers are pleading with the Monrovia City Court to declare Alternative National Congress Political Leader Alexander Cummings as a hostile witness to allow them to place him on cross-examination.
This follows Cummings’ testimony in Court to produce the original copy of the Collaborating Parties’ document in connection with his criminal case.
Cummings who was brought in to testify as subpoena witness said that the CPP’s framework documents do not exist and never existed.
Cummings’ accounts to the Court regarding the whereabouts of the CPP’s documents led to prosecuting lawyers’ request to the Court to declare him a hostile witness.
Cllr. Syrenius Cephus maintained that Cummings is a hostile witness as a result of his hostility towards prosecutors in court and should be cross-examined by the prosecution.
But, Cummings’ legal team is headed by Cllr. Abraham Sillah resisted, on grounds that his client said the documents do not exist and should be the grounds to dismiss the case.
Our Judicial Correspondent further said government and defense lawyers’ claims and counterclaims have led Judge Jomah Jallah to suspend his ruling for this Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
The ANC Political Leader and two of his officials are on trial on allegations of forgery and criminal conspiracy at the Monrovia City Court.
