President George Weah on Tuesday, March 29, led an array of Government Officials to sign the Book of Condolence for fallen statesmen Dr. Amos C. Sawyer.
Dr. Sawyer was Interim President of the Interim Government of National Unity, the first power-sharing government organized to end the Liberian civil war.
Prior to signing the book of condolence at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion on Ashmun Street, President Weah comforted members of the bereaved family, including Mrs. Comfort Sawyer, wife of the deceased.
In a brief chat with reporters, following the signing, President Weah described the late Dr. Sawyer as a man of peace who devoted his life to the good of the nation.
The Liberian Leader stated that the late Dr. Sawyer was a man of peace and a father of the nation who will be missed for his role as a Politician and an Educator.
President Weah also noted that he and Dr. Sawyer had a personal relationship, stressing that the fallen Statesman was a fatherly figure to him.
The Liberian Leader was on Tuesday joined by a number of Government officials who also signed the book of condolence of the late Liberian Statesman.
