
Several Students on Wednesday petitioned the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education to take concrete steps aimed at curbing drug activities in Schools.
The Students through their Spokesperson Terrian Nimley also called on Education authorities to ensure the protection of Students to avoid a repeat of the shooting incident at the Cyber Ed Christian School in 2021 that resulted in the death of late Precious Ireland.
Wednesday, April 13 marked one year since Sylvanus Turay shot late Precious Ireland in an incident that shocked the School System in Liberia.
In commemoration of the sad event, families of Late Precious Ireland have launched a foundation in her honor to address issues facing female students in the Country.
Responding to the petition, Education Minister Ansu Sonii said the Ministry is concerned about the safety of students.
He assured the students that measures have been put in place for counseling and other mechanisms to ensure that the shooting incident at the Cyber Ed Christian School does not repeat.
