A Liberian diplomatic Passport Holder Samuel Kwame Arbekah; age 50 has Committed Suicide at the Istanbul Airport in Turkey.
A November 22 publication on FrontPage Africa said Samuel Kwame Arbekah committed suicide at the Istanbul International Airport after he was reportedly arrested for drug trafficking.
According to his passport, he was an Economist at the West African Monetary Agency.
Though circumstances surrounding how he committed suicide remain unclear; information gathered revealed that he was arrested with drugs at the airport and was being held for questioning when he took his life.
The report added that David Akoi, Assistant Minister-designate for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could not confirm the information about the passport issue.
However, information from other sources within the Ministry revealed that the deceased was not a Liberian diplomat, though he held a Liberian diplomatic passport, information that is yet to be verified.
Liberia has been riddled with a series of scandals involving Liberian diplomatic passports over the past few years. A recent of such scandal involved Sheik Bassirou Kante who was arrested by the U.S. government for money laundering and wire fraud
