The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched six new passport application centers in a move to enable Liberians living abroad to access Liberian passports.
The new centers according to Foreign Minister Maxwell Kemayah have simultaneously launched in Chicago and Los Angeles in the United States; Nairobi, Kenya; Pretoria, South Africa, Melbourne Australia, and New Delhi, India.
Addressing the Ministry of Information Regular Press Briefing Thursday in Monrovia, Minister Kemayah, said the government will continue to open new centers in other locations in phases.
He noted that it is the obligation of the Government of Liberia to ensure that passport application and processing is brought to the doorstep of every Liberia national who needs a passport to travel or otherwise.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs disclosed that the new centers will collaborate with VFS Global to work out modalities to ensure passports are available for every Liberian, despite their location.
Minister Kemayah added that establishing the new centers would also enhance Government revenue generation for national development; while Government has fulfilled the call by Liberian citizens residing in areas where consular centers are not available.
