
Dozens of visually impaired people from the Christian Association of the Blind have staged a peaceful protest at the compound of the Ministry of Justice in demand of security protection against constant criminal raids on the CAB Resource Learning Center located in the R-Two Community in Paynesville.
Speaking Thursday, the Secretary General of the Christian Association of the Blind, Elijah Menyon said visually impaired people cannot afford to purchase CCTV cameras as recommended by President George Weah for their protection.
According to him, criminal raids at the CAB Resource Learning Center have increased with thieves taking away computers, and money, amongst other items.
Menyon appealed to the Ministry of Justice to do all it can to provide security for them or else, criminals will continue to loot the facilities.
Receiving the statement, the Assistant Minister for Correction and Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Justice, Eddie Tarawali, assured the visually impair, that their petition will be taken to the Minister Counselor Musa Dean to quickly intervene.
He expressed regret over the incident on behalf of the Minister and assured them that prompt action will be taken to safeguard them.
