
President George Weah is expected to deliver to the 54th National Legislature his State of the Nation Address in a joint session at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
The address which is scheduled for tomorrow January 30, 2023, will be the Liberian Leader’s sixth annual message since his inauguration in January 2018 and the last if he is not re-elected in the general election scheduled for October of this year.
The State of the Nation Address SONA as it is called by many Liberians including Journalists is in line with Article 58 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia which states “The President shall, on the fourth working Monday in January of each year, present the administration’s legislative program for the ensuing session, and shall once a year report to the Legislature on the state of the
Republic. In presenting the economic condition of the Republic the report shall cover expenditure as well as income”

In presenting the economic condition of the Republic as well as the income, and expenditures of his administration’s Legislative programs of the previous year, the president may propose legislative programs for 2023 ahead of the general election.
Meanwhile, the National Legislature has released the official protocol for the President’s State of the Nation Address.
A report said lawmakers will convene a special session in the Joint Assembly Hall at the Capitol, before the arrival of President George Weah to the Joint Chamber.
According to protocol, the Sergeant-at-Arms will announce the arrival of the President in the Joint Chamber, with the Liberian Leader commencing his report to the National Legislature at 4 pm.
